Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) frequently occurs in the setting of intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage, and is an independent and significant contributor to morbidity and mortality in both conditions. Present therapy of IVH is directed at treating the associated complications of obstructive and communicating hydrocephalus. WebCommunicating Hydrocephalus: This type of hydrocephalus occurs when there is no obstruction to the flow of CSF within the ventricular system. The condition arises either due to inadequate absorption or due to an abnormal increase in the quantity of CSF produced.
