WebJul 17, 2008 · The copper on .22LR bullets is not copper plating but a "copper wash". It's quite soft and really no more than a copper based lubricant. It won't build up in the bore like copper fouling from copper plated bullets I don't believe. Some .22LR target shooters NEVER clean their bores and say that is the best for accuracy.
